Your SELFstarter benefits are available only to you and to permanent residents of your household who are at least 18 years old. In addition, membership benefits are only available to personal, non-commercial purchasers. Any order that is deemed a commercial (non-personal) use or high-volume/reseller order, at our sole discretion, will not be eligible for membership benefits. Your membership benefits cost just $9.97 per month after your seven day free trial.
As a member, you receive access to one meal plan per calendar month. The meal plan includes a menu of one breakfast, snack, lunch, and dinner per day, a recipe for each meal, and a weekly shopping list.
These meal plans and recipes were created by SELF editors with the help of Maxine Yeung, R.D. Meals equal roughly 1,700 calories per day; and are roughly 50 percent carbohydrate, 20 to 25 percent protein, and 25 to 30 percent fat. Meal composition is based on current USDA dietary guidelines. These meal plans are not intended for everyone and may not be suitable if you have certain dietary restrictions. You may need more or less than 1,700 calories per day based on your activity level. You can view your estimated caloric needs by activity level, age, and sex by visiting Health.gov.
Above all, the editors of SELF want this plan to make your life easier. These meal plans are not intended to be prescriptive, and you should tweak them as you see fit.
Here’s how to use your meal plan:
- You can view your meal plan for the whole month, for one week, or for one day on our meal plan page. Click on each meal to look up the recipe for your day's breakfast, snack, lunch, and dinner.
- A new meal plan is loaded every month. You can always view meals from previous meal plans in the Recipe Index.
- Each recipe's ingredients are automatically added to your weekly grocery list. You can easily edit your grocery list. To remove an entire meal from your grocery list, just un-select the checkbox on the meal tile and we'll remove all the meal’s ingredients from your grocery list. To remove individual ingredients from your grocery list, just un-select the ingredients from your grocery list directly or from the ingredients list in your recipe.
- These meals are designed to serve one, however a few recipes make multiple servings. In those cases, our intent is that you will cook once and have leftovers for subsequent meals. If you are cooking for two or more, please increase the ingredients list accordingly.
10% Cash Back on SELFstarter Editors’ Picks Product Purchases
As a member, you receive 10% cash back on every SELFstarter Editors’ Picks product purchase you make during your active membership. Simply shop through our Editors’ Picks and complete your order online. Ten percent of your order sub-total (minus taxes and fees) will be automatically applied to your Savings. Your cash back earnings will be paid out in the form of a check (see the “Savings” section below for details). You can earn 10% cash back on an unlimited number of SELFstarter Editors’ Picks product purchases.
Limits & Details: To qualify for 10% cash back, purchases must be made through the product links provided on the program website, and you must be an active member at the time of purchase. Your 10% cash back on online Editors’ Picks products will automatically appear on your Savings page within 5 to 7 days of your purchase being shipped. The 10% cash back is valid on merchandise only. Taxes, shipping charges, and other fees are not included. If a discount or other deal is available on a purchase, the 10% cash back will be applied to the sub-total price you pay after all such reductions are applied. You can earn a maximum of $1,000 in 10% cash back each year on purchases made through the program.

10% Cash Back on Purchases at Our Online Participating Retailers
As a member, you receive 10% cash back when you shop at eligible retailers included on our Shop page. Simply click through the brand link to a retailer website and complete your purchase online during that session in the browser window that opens from that link. You can earn 10% cash back on an unlimited number of purchases made through our Shop page.

Shipping and Return Shipping Rebates on SELFstarter Editors’ Picks Products and Participating Retailer Purchases
As a member, you are eligible for rebates on shipping and return shipping costs on any purchase you make through the program. You can earn up to a maximum of $500 per year in shipping rebates and $500 per year in return shipping rebates. Rebates will be applied to your Savings page and paid out in the form of a check. To receive a rebate after you make a purchase or return a purchase, submit a rebate claim along with your dated proof-of-purchase documentation and, when applicable, your return documentation. Please refer to the “How to Submit a Shipping or Return Shipping Rebate Claim” section below for details.
Limits & Details: You are eligible for up to $500 in shipping rebates and $500 in return shipping rebates on Editors’ Picks products and online participating retailer purchases per year. Shipping rebates must be claimed within 60 days of the original purchase date. Return shipping rebate documents must be dated and submitted within 60 days of your return date. Return shipping rebates require two forms of documentation: valid proof of your original purchase and valid proof of your return shipping charge. Please refer to the “How to Submit a Shipping or Return Shipping Rebate Claim” section below for details. Only one return shipping rebate claim can be made per each original order. Insurance coverage for return shipping of the item is not provided under the program.
How to Submit a Shipping or Return Shipping Rebate Claim
To submit a shipping rebate claim online, visit the Shipping page under the Shopping tab, and fill out and submit the electronic rebate form. To submit a return shipping rebate claim online, visit the Return Shipping page under the Shopping tab, and fill out and submit the electronic rebate form. You can email your proof-of-purchase documentation, along with your claim number, to email@example.com. Online submissions will appear in on your Savings page upon verification and processing, which can take 3 to 6 weeks.
You can also send your proof-of-purchase documentation by mail to: SELFstarter Rebates, P.O. Box 290728, Wethersfield, CT 06129-0728. Please be sure to write your claim number on all documentation. Mailed submissions will appear on your Savings page upon approval, which can take 3 to 6 weeks from the postmark date of your submission.
Proof-of-purchase documentation must list the retailer, purchase date, item(s) purchased, purchase amount, and shipping charge (if applicable). Acceptable documents include a sales receipt, a packing slip, an order confirmation email, or an order confirmation page.
For return shipping rebates, you must provide two forms of documentation with your claim: Valid proof of your original purchase and a receipt for the return shipping charge. Proof-of-purchase documentation must display the price paid, retailer information, and purchase and shipping dates. Return shipping documentation must include the shipping charge and the destination address; USPS receipts that indicate the destination zip code are acceptable. (NOTE: If a return label is provided by the retailer, and the return shipping fee is deducted from your store refund/credit, please provide a copy of your statement showing the credit amount less the return shipping fee.)
The savings you earn through the program are deposited into your Savings page and sent out in the form of a check to the mailing address on file for you. You will receive one check per month for the balance listed on your Savings page for cash back, shipping rebate, and return shipping rebate claims that have been processed and approved. Cash back claims are processed within 3 to 6 weeks of our receipt of notification from the retailer that your order has shipped. Shipping and return shipping claims are processed within 3 to 6 weeks of our receipt of your rebate claim and supporting documentation.
Limits & Details: You can view your current balance and activity by visiting your Savings page, or you can ask about any balances or activity by calling Customer Service anytime at 855-779-6683. Should you cancel your membership, you will receive a check for the amount remaining on your Savings page.
